Corrections policy
How we fix mistakes, and how you can tell us about one.
We correct errors of fact promptly and transparently. When a correction changes the meaning of a story, we add a correction notice at the top of the article saying what was wrong and what we changed, with the date.
What we never do
We do not silently change important facts in published stories. Every version of every article is kept, so we can always show what was published and when.
Updates
Developing stories are updated as new information arrives. Articles show when they were last meaningfully updated, separately from when they were first published.
Report an error
Spotted a mistake? Contact the newsroom with the article link and what you believe is wrong. Every report is read by an editor.
